If you're a beginner and want to learn skiing or snowboarding, this is the perfect place to start. And if you want to just sit back and relax while your family or friends keep busy, you can simply sit at the top of the slopes and sip your kawa, while you watch them swoosh down the slopes! Or take the gondola up to 13,132 feet (3,979 meters) and take in the view. There's more than one way to enjoy Gulmarg!

The perfect vacation for the family! These particular fixed date departures will be led by MHE's CEO Akshay Kumar himself. Akshay is an expert skier and a national champion, having represented India in international competitions. He will lead a team of instructors and guides who will teach you to master the slopes or guide you down the upper pistes if you're a pro.
Trip starts from: Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir
No. of days of the trip: 6
No. of skiing days: 4
Accommodation: You will stay at Shaw Inn - a lovely little hotel about 10 minutes walk from the bunny slopes. The hotel is centrally heated, warm and cozy with electric blankets and hot running water. The wi-fi is patchy at best - but you can't blame the hotel for that. It's patchy pretty much all over the valley.
DAY 1: ARRIVE IN JODHPUR, DRIVE TO KORTA
Simply catch the overnight train from Delhi to Jodhpur - there are four direct trains, all of which chug into Jodhpur early morning.
Or take a direct flight if you're coming from Mumbai or Bengaluru.

Arrive into Jodhpur early morning and we're there to pick you up - at the airport or by train, take your pick. Drive directly to Korta which is about 160 KM and should take around 2.5 Hrs. Arrive at Korta Escape, check in, and feast on a fabulous Rajasthani meal.  Spend the morning exploring the villages and the unique Rajasthani architecture around the area.

Set off for an early morning walk around the tribal villages nearby; chat with the village elders as they sit near a small temple puffing on their tobacco pipes; visit a pristine white Jain temple and see an amazing display of old marble carvings excavated in the area. This is a Jain pilgrimage area and there are several temples built around here over the years. Early evening visit Korta Village.

Overnight at Korta Escape.
Day 2: HALF DAY HORSE SAFARI
After breakfast we stroll down to the stables and meet your ride around Rajasthan for the day - the statuesque Marwari horses. Take a fun horseback ride so you get to know one another - you and the horse we mean! There's 300 acres of land surrounding the hotel and you will be riding through dry riverbeds towards historic temples. Relax and enjoy the view and then start riding back - through Rajasthani fields and small tribal villages.

As the sun goes down, we're part of a candlelight service at a local Hindu temple. Perfect way to end a long day! Needless to say, a Rajasthani spread awaits you at the hotel. Dinner done, a warm bed was never more welcome!
Day 3: MORNING JEEP SAFARI AND EVENING LEOPARD SAFARI
After breakfast, we take off in an open jeep and explore the wildlife reserve close by. The Nilgai, Antelope, and Boar look at us curiously but unafraid. After lunch at Jawai Dam, we head back for an evening leopard safari.
DAY 4: DRIVE TO JODHPUR THEN RETURN HOME
After breakfast it's time to drive back to Jodhpur. You cannot possibly head back home without taking the thrilling zipline across the Mehranghar Fort! You get an amazing top angle view of the citadel and the entire city of Jodhpur!

Take your evening train/flights back home - well in time to hit work the next morning, energized by the well deserved break!

Your skis, ski boots, poles, helmet, ski pants and jackets are all part of the ski package. Usually, you will wear the same ski jacket and pants for all the four ski days.

Suggested Gear List:

Essentially, you should be dressed in layers. If the sun comes out and you've been on the slopes for a while, you might want to start shedding those layers. Therefore, pack:
  • Inner thermals - upper and lower. Two sets is good enough.
  • A dri-fit long sleeves T shirt to wear over the thermals - 2 sets.
  • A micro-down jacket - these are extremely thin down jackets (available at Decathalon) and if you can't find a micro-down then a thin fleece jacket will do as well.
  • Thin woolen socks - to wear with the ski boots - 2 pairs. The feet can get quite chilly.
  • Hiking shoes - very often you will have to reach the slopes after which you will don your shoes and skis - especially if you don't intend to (or cannot for any reason) ski down from the hotel straight.
  • Track pants and sweater/fleece jacket to wear once you are back at the hotel.
  • T shirts to wear when back ion the hotel.
  • Thick cotton socks to wear in the hotel.
  • Floaters to wear in the hotel after a long day on the slopes.
  • Fleece gloves to wear after skiing - if you decide to step out.
  • Fleece cap - your helmet is often warm enough, but the cap is an essential , especially if you plan to get into a snow fight later in the day!
