Kolad River Rafting - a fantastic day trip!

Looking for weekend getaways from Mumbai or Pune? Kolad river rafting as it is popularly called, is done on the fantastic Kundalika river. This rafting day trip will take you through the virgin forests below the Mulshi and Bhira dams, along a 14 KM stretch of the Kundalika. This wild and exciting stretch passes through Grade II and III rapids, and with our fully qualified guides you're in great hands. 

MHE is a licensed adventure tour operator and recognized by the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, and is a member of ATOAI (Adventure Tour Operators Association of India) as well as ATTA (Adventure Travel Trade Association, USA). MHE’s rafting guides are all CPR and first-aid trained and take swift-water rescue courses on an anuual basis to upgrade their skills. 

In the world of white-water rafting, the first descents of the Brahmaputra river in 1991, Upper Teesta, Upper Indus, Nubra, Narmada and Suru rivers are all credited to MHE. So, when you raft with MHE you know you are in safe hands.
Reporting time
The Kolad river rafting trip starts at 8:00 am every morning. Since the water flow is controlled by the Bhira dam, we must start our rafting on schedule or face the possibility of trip cancellation due to lack of water flow. Therefore please report by 8.00 am.

Who can raft?
Almost everybody other than pregnant ladies, heart patients and people with severe asthma. 
Children below 14 yrs will not be allowed to raft.

What to bring?
T Shirts, shorts and sport shoes or floaters for rafting.
A change of dry clothes and a towel.
Light warm clothes if you are camping overnight with us.
Sun Hat / Cap    
Sun Glasses
Water proof sun block lotion

Costs Include:

  • Morning rafting trip
  • All government taxes included.
  • All rafting equipment, including guide, crew and life jacket.

​Costs Do Not Include:

  • International/Domestic air fare or train fare.
  • Transportation costs to rafting start and drop points.
  • Camping or overnight stay.
  • Unforeseen expenses that demand a change in itinerary like natural forces, changes in weather, road blockages, flight/train cancellations and illness.
  • Medical, Travel, or Evacuation insurance.
  • Expenses of a personal nature - tips, laundry, phone calls, beverages.

Reaching here:

From Mumbai (138 Kms):
Take the NH 17 Goa highway till Kolad. 1 Km after the Kolad Market, turn left on the SH 60 to Pune. From here it is 8 Kms to Sutarwadi (MHE site office). From the reporting office it is another 8 Kms to Shajey Village our starting point. 

From Pune (100 Kms):
Take road to Mulshi Dam and drop down the ghats till turn off to Shajey Village our starting point.

Looking to stay overnight after Kolad river rafting? Our colleagues at Nature Trails have a fantastic property on the banks of the Kundalika River. It's a luxury tented camp, that turns up right at the end of the rafting run. Perfect! 

There are 20 luxury tents with attached toilet and bathrooms. They also provide adventure activities like kayaking, rappelling, valley crossing, evening campfire and barbecue.
