We're going geocaching

Picture

first things first, what is geocaching?

Geocaching is a real-world, outdoor treasure hunting game using GPS-enabled devices and latitude-longitude coordinates. Participants navigate to a specific set of GPS coordinates and then attempt to find the geocache (container) hidden at that location.

what do you need to geocache?

The only necessities are a GPS device or a GPS-enabled mobile phone so that you can navigate to the cache.

where do i find these geocaches?

Geocaches can be found all over the world. It is common for geocachers to hide caches in locations that are important to them, reflecting a special interest or skill of the cache owner. These locations can be quite diverse. They may be at your local park, at the end of a long hike, underwater or on the side of a city street.

i want to join in! how can i play?

Get your self a GPS Device and simply join in. Join websites like Geocaching.com which have free memberships to find Geocaches, enter your post code and start treasure hunting for Geocaches located near you!

Are there any rules I need to be aware of?

More than rules there are ethics and guidelines that Geocachers need to be aware of.  Most importantly:

1. If you take something from the geocache, leave something of equal or greater value.
2. If there is a cache logbook, log in what you found and when.
3. Finally do not endanger others in any way, minimize the impact on nature and respect private property

if you have any more questions. visit the geocaching guide on geocaching.com

so what did mhe geocache?

This was our first time Geocaching and we Geocached these handcrafted biodegradable beauties that were sent to us as an #MHE2EBC Contest Entry.

Find this rock and you'll find our Geocache

WHAT ARE THE LAT-LONG COORDINATES OF THIS GEOCACHE?

Here are the Lat-Long co-ordinates for all you heading to Everest Base Camp this year or the next:

N 27 Degrees 55.853’ E 86 Degrees 48.269’

Elevation: 15847 feet

Note: Remember the guidelines from before and if you'd like to take the mugs with you leave something of greater or equal value behind for the next Geocacher!

If you find this Geocache, we'd love it if you take a picture of you with it and email it to us on mhe2ebc@mhe.co.in

WHat & when are we geocaching next?

Up next we plan to Geocache on our next adventure : The Zanskar Rafting Trip. You can find all the details about the trip by clicking on the link below.
